The Benefits of a Two-Day Installation
Some companies offer “one-day” installations, which use fast-curing polyureas or polyaspartics as both the direct-to-concrete primer coats and clear topcoats. However, these systems often sacrifice quality for speed. Over time, especially in the presence of medium to high concrete moisture, use of quick-cure polyurea or polyaspartic as the primer coat leads to problems like bubbling or peeling. Rushing the process means the this flooring rarely properly mitigates for moisture, reducing its long-term effectiveness.
That’s why we use a thorough two-day installation process. Day one focuses on preparing the concrete with high-end diamond grinders, to create a perfect concrete “profile” and prepare the surface for the first primer coat. We then apply a high-build, slow-curing, moisture-mitigating 100%-solids epoxy as the primer coat. It acts as a moisture vapor barrier and we allow a full day for it to cure. On day two, we apply dual coats of a 100%-solids clear polyaspartic (not one coat that is less than 100%, like the “one-day” companies). These topcoats provide UV resistance, chemical and impact protection, and a glossy finish. Our method ensures a durable, long-lasting floor that will stay strong and beautiful for years to come.
